Love this, Jimmy. I never smoked, but I like a drink. My son is an alcoholic. I put him in rehab when he was 18 (he's 29 now). It's messed his life up over and over again. He's brilliant, but the booze always got him and he'd do something dumb and mess up. It's not easy to quit and he had trauma to deal with that complicated things. He's been clean 2 months now and has a good job with good pay and benefits, so fingers crossed.
My husband smoked for 40 of his 51 years and to this day after a year off the smokes, he still craves them. Every. Single. Day. It's a conscious effort each day to say no. It's not easy. It's a disease.
