Nope. Not for me. I raised 3 boys as a single mother and for most of their childhood, I had precious little money. I absolutely agree with you on every point you made.

The only time I ever bought a present for my other kids was when a new baby was born, so when my middle son was born, I bought a present for my oldest son, and when my youngest was born, I bought a present for the older 2. I said they were "from the baby" as a way to cut down on jealousy, and to help them accept the new arrival.

I'll even go so far as to say my 2 youngest have birthdays 48 hours apart. There are 2 years between them, but one was born on October 12, and the other October 14. I refused to even combine the celebrations. If I threw a party on the 12th, best believe I threw another 48 hours later. Each got their own special day complete with cake and presents etc. Crazy? Maybe, but it worked for us.
