Okay...how to say this without sounding mean....ummm,

…he eats at the diner where she works and stares at her, but they never talk. By the end of the book, he rescues her from her mean ex-husband and nicely decides not to kill him even though he is the sheriff.

Okay...how to say this without sounding mean....ummm, yeah, because of course he rescues her. I mean, is there anything more written by a man than that trope? I've lived on this planet and never, ever have I dreamed of a man rescuing me...just sayin'
