Really. My middle son sank into a deep depression last year after learning one of his best friends from school died from a Fentanyl overdose.
My mother's theory would have been these kids were so coddled, never told no, never allowed to suffer their own consequences, never had to learn anything etc, that when it came time to function in the real world, they just couldn't. They couldn't handle being told what to do if they got a job. Many never got jobs because despite having high school diplomas, they lacked basic reading and math skills.
It's sad because in many ways, as much as we bitch about the younger generations, it's us that made them this way.
