It’s no secret that I’m stuck somewhere between 1984 and 1989. You don't need to concern yourself with that, I like it there. I’m 50 now, and as each day goes by, I hear my parents’ voices coming straight out of my mouth, complaining about how everything was better back in the day. TV, music, whatever it was, ours was better. Each generation goes through that. We all think whatever happened during the glory days of our youth was far superior to any offering from the generation that follows.

Of course, in the case of television sitcoms, we Gen Xers are right. The 70s and 80s were the heyday of situation comedy. We sat, transfixed, glued to our screens watching Must-See TV. And I’m going to share my youthful must-see TV list with you.

Gimme a Break (1981–1987)
