Regarding your commpasion vs inhumane treatment in prison, many (I'm not saying all) people in prison are used to be treated like animals. That's how they got there, from being abused as kids to becoming addicted to whatever and/or being homeless, etc.

Treating an inmate like an animal inside will do one thing, produce an angrier and more efficient criminal to release to the outside. It's a proven fact. Anyone want to fight me on this, come at me, I have the degrees and the data to back it up.

I'm not saying prisoners should be coddled, they shouldn't. They need treatment, training and shown another way to live in many instances. I could go on all day, but I've taken up enough space in your comments already.
