Resilience
The salt of countless wounds,
Scorches and stains my soul,
A sickly whitewash,
Threatening,
Eroding pieces of me from the inside out.
Edges, once smooth with youthful promise,
Jagged, torn now,
Eaten away by decades of disappointment,
Powerless to withstand,
A lifetime of tears.
Yet somewhere inside it all,
I find myself renewed,
Growing, thriving.
A rare pop of brilliant colour,
Defying the desolation that once defined me.
