Speaking for myself, I find writing more healing than anything. I've used writing as a form of therapy since before I knew what therapy was. It's always been my way of processing stuff.

I came from a family where I was taught that I was too sensitive and that one was supposed to just "get on with it." No matter what it was, don't air your dirty laundry, don't complain, just get on with it and if you're suffering, do it quietly. That's not a sustainable way of living.

So writing helped. I could get things out that needed to come out, but not violate the "rules" so to speak. Of course, now that I write online, I guess I have violated the thing about airing dirty laundry, LOL
