My Answer To “Are You or Do You Know Someone on the Spectrum?”

Oh, Keeley Schroder, I so love your prompts. And this one is no exception. Do I know someone on the spectrum? Ummm, yeah. Me. Also my husband. Oh and 2 of my kids. Here’s the prompt:

Are You Feeling Adventurous This April, Challengers?

We’re a Spectrum Family. But we came late to the party. My husband wasn’t diagnosed until he was 36. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 48. My boys are still self-diagnosed.

What makes us special? Lots of stuff.

My husband is socially awkward. He doesn’t care to mix with people. can come off as rude or self-centered. He kinda lives in his own world and doesn’t care about anything outside of it. He sees about as far as his nose and that’s it. It’s been that way since we hooked up in 1987.

But, he’s a brilliant artist. Art falls out of him like water from a stream. He’s sold work all over the world and written 4 books about his art and life.
