Stay Outta My Comments!
Maybe I’m jaded. Maybe I’m a bitter old bag. Well, not an old bag, per see, more of a middle-aged bag. But I’m annoyed and I’m going to rant.
I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed a recent trend, but I have. At first, I passed it off as nothing. An oddly placed comment, having nothing to do with anything I wrote, a profile picture of a decent-looking man of a certain age, no stories, no, or very few followers.
The comments are always some sort of “conversation opener.” The first one was a sort of “hi how are you this blessed day, I tried to add you but couldn’t, please contact me on my email at whateveremail@yeahright.com.
That was the first one. I ignored it. Then today, 2 more. One is pictured above.
“Sorry to bother me?” Well, don’t be sorry. Just don’t bother me, how about that?
Don’t get me wrong, one of the things I love about this platform is the social aspect. I love reading and engaging with the content of other writers. I love the exchange of ideas. I love the friendships I’ve made with brilliantly talented people I never would have encountered otherwise.
