Sudsy Pop
Back in the 80s, there was a thing, a trend if you will of soap opera stars trying their hand at being pop stars. And you know what? I was so there for it!
I was born and raised on soap operas. Search For Tomorrow, The Edge of Night, Another World, The Young and The Restless… they were mommy’s stories, so they became my stories too. Then, as I got older, into my teen years, I branched out to watch General Hospital and Days Of Our Lives.
Let’s be honest, if there was a handsome young man on a soap, I was there!
But for some sudsy actors, the small screen just wasn’t enough. They wanted the glitz and glamour of pop stardom. And they got it, to some degree or another, for a minute.
This is the list of my favourites. It’s not a technical list based on any sort of, you know, talent or anything. I’m voting with my heart here and what stirred my soul as a teenager dreamer.

1. Gloria Loring: The former Mrs Alan Thicke was once Liz Chandler on Days Of Our Lives.
