Thank you for that. You may be correct on the word choice. What I experience is a very visceral reaction to the word "privilege." I'm sure you have too.

The story was prompted by a show I was watching about white privilege and a writing prompt from a friend of mine on here. I wanted to somehow take the sting out of the privilege part....to get it across that it doesn't mean a privileged existence in monetary terms because that seems to be a sticking point.

We need to have these discussions in order to advance. I suppose I'm a bit of a blunt instrument in that regard whereas you're more nuanced.
