Thank you for this. I am mixed race, Black father, white mother. I'm obviously pretty white looking, but identified with much of what you wrote. I also have some Jewish roots, and have explored various religions in addition to Judaism. Nope, couldn't do it, I'm an Atheist.
I identify as biracial. I can't identify as Black, it's not a walk I've walked. I'm not treated as a Black woman when I'm out and about (unless people know about my ethnicity). But I'm not white either.
I get the feeling of rootlessness..
