The Top 12 George Michael Songs of All Time
Rolling Stone and I don't agree on much. We don’t agree on the definition of rock and roll. We don’t agree on who should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And we don’t agree on George Michael’s best songs.
In fairness, their list, George Michael: 20 Essential Songs includes hits from the WHAM days. And let’s face it, George was a super talented, prolific artist, picking the best of a generally awesome catalogue of work is no easy feat. That being said, I think Rolling Stone missed the mark by choosing the obvious. Low hanging fruit is easy to pick, but the tasty stuff, well, you gotta reach for that! For the sake of brevity, I’m going to put his partnership with Andrew Ridgely aside and concentrate on George’s solo work. No disrespect to Andrew, I was a massive WHAM fan, still am. Heck, I could do a top 10 list just from their brief tenure alone (spoiler alert, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go wouldn’t be in the top 5).
