There's a reason the old saying, "hindsight's 20/20," is an old saying. it's true. It's both easy to beat yourself up and easy to judge after the fact.

I married a narcissist. I'm not stupid. I'm intelligent, educated, blah, blah. I also was just so honoured that someone actually wanted to marry me (we used to joke about him takng the sad puppy from the pound, how sick is that?) because it IS a couple-centred world.

These popel don't wear signs. They seem normal and nice at first and hone into our weaknesses and give us exactly what we think we need, until they don't because it's always been about them.

Nobody should beat themselves up for falling prey to this. It's not a failing, it's not stupidity, it's placing one's trust in the wrong person and it's a lesson. We've all made mistakes, becasue we're human. We want love. We want acceptance. I beat myself up for years. Then I stopped.
