This is the thing for me, and I've written about it...I'm mixed race and present white. I have a very unique view because I get all the benefits of being white, but not quite because once people find out about my Black daddy.... well, you know. The white shame, to me, is often disingenuous. It's pandering and it's what they think we want to hear. Falling on the sword and being weak is never a good ally. Recognition, education, knowledge of the real history is what we need along with open, honest discussion. I don't want white people to feel shame, I want dialogue.
