“The Girl Is Mine,” (Michael Jackson with Paul McCartney, produced by Quincy Jones). Now here’s where we all should be screaming, “What the hell is wrong with all of you?” Did they really sing, “The doggone girl is mine?” Well, of course in 1982 we had no idea of Michael’s issues, but the two of these guys arguing over this poor girl, whoever she might have been, and then talking to each other about her…actually, anyone who converses during a song and uses that as part of the song makes me want to check on out of pop culture entirely. Runner-up in McCartney’s bad decisions has to be the duet with Stevie Wonder, “Ebony and Ivory.” Life sure is funny, in all its obvious black and white glory.
