What's pre-law? We don't have that in Canada. You go get an undergraduate degree (A Bachelors of something) and then apply to law school. Some degrees, I suppose some degree programs are more suited to law school entry, but pre law, that intrigues me.

Law school teaches a person legal reasoning (which is so different than common sense) and writing. The rest, honestly, starts with an inborn talent. Much like art of music or writing, you have to have that talent, especially as a trial lawyer, and then you learn what to do with it. It sounds like you have it.

And yes, the gut and eyes are key. As is knowing when to stop talking. That last one was the hardest part. I could cross-examine a tree into submission, and it's the best part of law, but the trick is going only as far as you need to, then shutting up. Once you give someone enough rope to hang themselves, you don't want to give them enough to hang you too.

It's kinda fun, isn't it, knowing how to craft an argument, how to negotiate and knowing you're going to prevail? There's a power in it.
