Yes, I've heard of reparations. And if they ever actually came to fruition, they aren't going to come directly out of any individual white person's pocket. That would be on government. Honestly, I have mixed feeling about them, but that's a discussion for another day.

Language has power, you're absolutely right. I can't say privilege is the right word or the wrong word, all I'm saying is that in this context it doesn't equal privileged existence in the monetary sense. That's it. Just like being beautiful or thin doesn't make one automatically the beneficiary of all the world's riches.

I know what people are hearing. I'm not telling them they're wrong to hear it, I'm explaining it and hopefully giving them another way to see it. Again, use of language. You accuse me of saying people are wrong to hear it...."wrong" stings a bit...nobody wants to be wrong.

The word probably isn't going to change. I'm trying to take the sting out of it so we can move on to more productive dialogue.
