You caught me! I'm guilty as charged. I've never approached a man in my life. Never asked one out. Never even asked one to dance. Never, not once and I'll be 51 in July.
Why, you ask? Well, first and foremost, I was terrified of rejection. Second, I didn't really have to (when I left my awkward stage behind). But, for some of us of a certain age, you can't discount the so-called morals we were rasied with. I was raised to beleive that girls didn't chase boys, that it was crass to ask a fella out. It was forward and would give one a bad name. Of course, I knew by the time I was a teenager that it was bullshit, but what you know intellectually and what you feel....well....you get the point.
I enjoyed your story. It made me giggle because I've probably been guilty of most of these things at one time or another.
