You did what was right for you at the time. I am also adopted, but it was an intra-family adoption. That said, I still know the not being like the others. I'm a white looking mixed race kid that was adopted by her Black father's brother and wife....to say I was different was an understatement.
My birth mother died when I was 3 weeks old. I've met some family, basically I've never gotten a straight answer about her or my entry into the world, etc. Would I have wanted to meet her? Yeah, but I doubt we'd have gotten along.
