You have no reason to be ashamed of being born white. It's just a fact. What took me aback with the young women and their conversation was exactly that I hadn't heard the "white guilt" thing for a few months, so I thought it was over. There was a time, a couple years ago now when it was a big trend and celebs were posting stupid shit like I referenced in the story.

I'm sure there are Black people who don't like white people. I don't personally know any. And yes, I've been teased by many of my Black relatives for being so white presenting. Of course that was over 35 years ago. Never once have they required me to apologize for it or expected me to feel shame about it. It was bratty kids doing bratty kid stuff.

Oddly enough, I wasn't in an uber liberal enclave. I don't know if there is one where I live. it's pretty MAGA-Lite, Northern Edition (because it's western Canada) here.

The point of my rant is that this "I'm so sorry I'm white, I'm disgusted, isn't productive. You've acknowledged that you fear criticism for not being ashamed of being white. Tell me, how do we ever solve anything if we can't even have an honest conversation about it? That's the problem. The virtue signalling and pandering aren't moving us toward anything. Quite the opposite, it rewards people (through likes, etc) for saying shit they don't mean in order to look like they're doing something when they're doing nothing at all.
