I’m not exactly ready for the rocking chair just yet (okay, let’s be real, a rocking chair is awesome), but I’m, as my mother would say, no spring chicken.

That said, most days, I sail through life oblivious to the 5 decades that have passed. Sure, I see my adult children. Sure I see that 2 of them are bald as cueballs. But that’s them, that ain’t me. Sure, I see the hint of fine lines, but I still see me somehow. Grey hair? Big deal, I got a box of stuff to deal with that.

I don’t really see myself as getting older. I mean obviously, I know how long I’ve been around. But most days, I don’t feel it. I don’t carry it around with me. In my head, I’m still 16. Until I’m not.

There are certain things, certain moments in life, mundane to others, but telltale signs to those of us of a certain age that we are, in fact, getting older.

Sunglasses Become More About Vanity Than Eye Protection:
I wear my sunglasses every time I go out. Sure, they’re to keep the sun out of my eyes. I do like to see where I’m driving. But you know what’s worse than having the sun in your eyes? Squinting. yeah, squinting’s the worst. That shit causes you to crinkle up your face and surprise, when you’re getting older, you really are…
