You're absolutely right. I'm a heterosexual woman. I like men. That said, I recognize the truth in what you say. My mother was one of "those people," that would say things like, "she's too pretty to be gay," or "I wonder what man hurt her."

It's fear I think, in somre respects. Fear of one's own inadequacies (think the guy shouting about how HE could turn her around, etc. He's in his mom's basment and hasn't been within 10 feet of a woman since Regan was president). Fear of something they don't understand.

People often think in simple terms and like to have others fit into neat little boxes. It's easy and comforting. When somthing or someone diesn't fit a box, they have to come up with a narrative that makes them fit..

It's their problem. Janeeel Monae is stunning, brilliant and she is who she is. It has nothing to do with anyone else. I look forward to the day we as society grow out of our petty foolishness becasuse it's seriously way past time!
