You're right. I've benefitted from the genetic lottery in many ways. But to keep my comments on point, we'll go with looks and brains. I had enough of a mind to get into and out of law school. There was a reason I wore cute outfits to court. Sounds horrible, but as good as my arguments were, and they were good, most judges were old white men and it's much easier to get them to accept a good argument with attractive packaging.
I knew in discoveries (depositions in the US) that if the plaintiff was a man of a certain age, I'd dress really cute and highlight my looks. I also did my homework and was no joke, one of the best prepared lawyers around. However, knowing my power, both physically and mentally, got a certain type of plaintiff to sing like a canary and confess things they may not have wanted to on record. Job done because everyone wants to please the pretty girl.
I'm also over 50 now and have gone from beautiful to fair to middling cute for an old broad. I'm okay with it, but I'm also okay with knowing I used my genetic gifts to my advantage.
